About Matt O.
Matt Orth lives near Easton PA in a converted 18th century seed mill on a magical creek with his wife (married 5.27.95), his two daughters (born 1.1.99 and 8.25.11), a mother-in-law, a pony, 3 dogs, 2 cats, and an indeterminate number of turtles. After a 20 year church career in a variety of roles, from church janitor to itinerant speaker, from college pastor to director of a para-church organization, Matt currently commutes into NYC four times a week to serve a crew of wonderful folks at a five story restaurant in lower Manhattan. He spends the rest of his time making memories with his family in the “thin places” of his property, and writing towards his dreams.
His first published book, Questions of a Curious Nature, is like The Screwtape Letters had a child with The Shack that was raised by a pack of editorial cartoons. It's available here in Kindle and paperback. Read some positive reviews that capture the heart of the book here and here, and like the Facebook page here. And if that's not enough, read the first two chapters for free here.
His latest project is the fictional memoir of his alter ego, the Rev Mack Ore, entitled “Death By Breakfast” which is currently seeking publication, and could be best described as Gilead as written by a young David Sedaris trapped in a Flannery O’Connor short story.
Matt drinks Broad River Coffee.
